Summary in five lines

  1. Six of the eight service pages tell Google not to index them. Probably a leftover setting.
  2. The business details disagree with themselves: three different phone formats, and a business type that doesn’t match the Google profile.
  3. The service-area pages for Fairfax and Loudoun are almost the same page with the town swapped.
  4. The home page loads a 2.8 MB hero photo on phones, which is slow for no good reason.
  5. When we ask ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity buyer questions, the business rarely comes up, and when it does, the facts are patchy.

1Stray noindex on 6 service pages/services/* (6 of 8)Fix first1 h

Where The six service pages under /services/: AC repair, furnace repair, installs, tune-ups, duct cleaning, thermostats. (Two others, emergency service and financing, are fine.)

Impact HighEffort About 1 hourSeverity Fix first

What we saw

Each of the six has a robots meta tag saying noindex, follow in the page head. The site-wide setting is off, so this comes from the per-page setting in the SEO plugin. Probably from when the pages were drafted and someone ticked “hide from search” while editing.

Why it matters

Noindex is an instruction: don’t show this page in results. Google generally respects it. These are the pages that describe what the business sells. Nothing else you do for them, copy, links or schema, can help while that tag is there.

Fix

  1. Open each of the six pages in the WordPress editor.
  2. In the SEO plugin panel, set “Allow search engines to show this page in results” to yes.
  3. Save. Clear the site cache and any CDN cache.
  4. In Search Console, use URL Inspection on each page, then “Request indexing”.
  5. Make sure the six URLs are in the sitemap (finding 3).

How to verify

  • View source on each page and search for “noindex”. It should be gone.
  • URL Inspection says “URL is available to Google” (not “Excluded by noindex tag”).
  • Re-crawl the site. The noindex count reads zero on pages you want found.
  • Check back in a couple of weeks that the pages appear as indexed. Timing is Google’s call, so we won’t give you a date.

5LocalBusiness schema: no hours, wrong type, phone not in +1 formatSite-wide headerFix soon1.5 h

Where The structured data block in the site-wide header.

Impact MediumEffort About 1.5 hoursSeverity Fix soon

What we saw

The block says the type is Plumber for an HVAC company. It has no opening hours. The phone is 703.555.0142, and the Google profile lists +1 703-555-0142. The business name is “Pohick Creek HVAC” in the markup but “Pohick Creek Heating & Air” everywhere else.

Why it matters

Schema doesn’t rank a page. It does give machines one tidy, labeled version of the business name, phone and hours. Here, three details contradict the rest of the site, so the labeled version isn’t helping.

Fix

  1. Change the type to HVACBusiness.
  2. Use the exact name from the Google profile, ampersand included.
  3. Put the phone in one format, +1-703-555-0142.
  4. Add hours that match the profile, day by day. (The free schema generator on this site can build this block.)
  5. Remove any second copy of LocalBusiness schema the theme or a plugin adds.

How to verify

  • Google’s Rich Results Test and the Schema.org validator both parse the page with no errors.
  • View source: only one LocalBusiness block exists.
  • Hours, phone and name match the Google profile character for character.

8Fairfax and Loudoun pages are about 180 words and near-identical/areas/fairfax/, /areas/loudoun/Fix soon5 h

Where /areas/fairfax/ and /areas/loudoun/, plus seven other town pages built from the same template.

Impact MediumEffort About 5 hoursSeverity Fix soon

What we saw

The Fairfax page is 183 words, the Loudoun page 176. Compared side by side, about 90% of the text is identical; only the town name changes. No neighborhoods, no local detail, no proof the business works there.

Why it matters

Pages that only swap a place name give a person nothing new, and give a search engine little reason to show one over the other. They also make it look like the site is trying to cover a map, not serve a customer.

Fix

  1. Keep a page only where the business really works. If it hasn’t done jobs in a place, remove the page and the claim.
  2. For places that stay, rewrite using real specifics: which services are most requested there, typical home styles, local permit or inspection steps that apply, response area and hours.
  3. Add three or four FAQs a homeowner in that place would actually ask.
  4. Or, if there’s little to say, merge the thin pages into one service-area page with sections.
  5. Redirect removed URLs to the best matching page.

How to verify

  • Word count per kept page is well past the template text, and a diff against the other town pages shows distinct content.
  • The removed URLs return a redirect, not a 404, and the sitemap is updated.
  • A person who lives there reads the page and agrees it’s about their area.

AI prompt sheet

How we’d check whether the business is mentioned or cited. Invented results, to show the format. We run 25 prompts for an AI visibility audit; five are shown.

Mentioned means the business name shows up in the answer. Cited means the answer links to the business’s own page as a source. They’re different, and we report both.

What you’d see in the real report: the competitors named, the page each AI used, and the specific fix for each gap. No schema field or batch of pages can force an AI to recommend you. We fix what’s fixable and measure again.

About 18 hours of work. A Fix sprint ($2,999) is around 25 hours and includes the re-crawl, so this one fits with room for retesting. Order matters more than hours: items 1 to 4 are about four hours and cover what’s blocking the site.

What a real report also has

  • Your real URLs, with screenshots where they help
  • A crawl export (CSV) you can keep
  • Indexing status pulled from your Search Console
  • Core Web Vitals field data where Google has enough visits to report it
  • Redirect map and internal link review (sizes M and L)
  • A 30-minute walkthrough, by phone or video, with time for your questions
  • A fix list you can hand to any developer, ours or yours

What this isn’t

  • Not a real business. Pohick Creek Heating & Air doesn’t exist; .example domains can’t exist.
  • Not a preview of your audit. Yours will find different things, and some sites are cleaner than this one.
  • Not a prediction. Fixing these wouldn’t guarantee any ranking, call or visit. Google decides.
  • Not a results report. There are no traffic or lead numbers here, because we wouldn’t invent them.
